About

A small studio,
working in the open.

Soura Research Technology is an independent practice founded in Depok, Indonesia. We build software at the intersection of machine intelligence and the human experience of using it — with a preference for what is quiet, useful, and durable over what is loud and momentary.

The studio operates on a simple thesis: most interesting problems in AI are no longer about scaling the next model. They are about taste, restraint, and the careful design of the small surfaces where people meet these systems day to day.

Our work spans research notes, internal tooling, and a small number of public products. We publish slowly and ship modestly.

On the name

The word Soura is rooted in the Arabic sūrah (سُورَة) — a passage of meaning, an enclosure around something precious. As we lived with the name, other readings layered themselves onto it: Soul and Aura in the modern register, and svara / sora in the Sanskrit and Indonesian sense of voice and tone. We kept all of them. A longer note on the name →

Principles

  1. 01Build slowly. Ship deliberately.
  2. 02Optimise for the user's clarity, not their engagement.
  3. 03Treat data as a borrowed thing — collect less, hold lighter.
  4. 04Write down what we learn, even when no one is reading.
